Our GPs

Dr Neil Black
Qualified MB ChB BMed Sci MRCGP DRCOG in 1986 from Manchester and St Andrews and has been a GP in Dunbar since 1991. He is the honorary doctor for the lifeboat. He does the minor surgery for the practice and also a variety of joint injections

Dr Patricia McPhail

Qualified MB ChB DRCOG from Edinburgh in 1980.  She qualified as a GP in 1984.  She has been a partner in the practice since 2003. She also works in the Department of Diabetes at the New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. She has an interest in the management of endocrine ( or hormonal ) disorders.

Dr Catriona Campbell
Qualified MB ChB BSc DRCOG MRCGP DFSRH from Edinburgh in 1998. Partner in the practice since 2011.

Dr Cara Strachan

Dr Strachan joins us from 13th January 2015 as a GP.  Previously with Tyne Medical Practice in Haddington, we are delighted that she will be with us long term.

Our Practice Manager

Moira Winning is the Practice Manager and deals with the day to day running of the Practice. She is responsible for reception staffing, Practice administration and finance. She also deals with complaints in the first instance.

Our Reception Team

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription requests, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Liz McIvor
Liz has been with the practice since 2011. She can advise on women’s health, contraception, vaccinations, Blood pressure control, wound care and some childhood vaccinations.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Mrs Lorna Fairbairn

Able to take blood, analyse urine and perform Blood pressure measurement. She is also able to give health advice on smoking, diet, exercise and alcohol consumption.

Phlebotomists

Lorna Fairbairn and Sally Nattrass are our phlebotomists (blood takers) and are both available on weekday mornings.
